MIHAS 2026: A Complete Guide to the Malaysia International Halal Showcase

Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026 officially takes place from 23–26 September 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur. Now in its 22nd edition, MIHAS is recognized as one of the world’s largest halal trade exhibitions and holds a Guinness World Records title. This year, Moslem Journey is on the ground as an official media partner, covering the full event from the inside.

Theme and Focus of MIHAS 2026

Themed “Shaping Trust, Driving Resilience,” MIHAS 2026 emphasizes a regulated-by-design approach to halal governance and the use of technology in global halal trade.

The event is organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), with ES Exhibition Sdn Bhd newly appointed as the event management agency for 2026–2030.

MIHAS also sits under the larger Global Halal Summit (GHaS) 2026 umbrella, which includes other programmes such as the Halal Certification Bodies Convention (HCBC) and the World Halal Business Conference (WHBC).

14 Halal Industry Sectors

This year, MIHAS spans 14 halal industry sectors — from food & beverage, modest fashion, cosmetics & personal care, and pharmaceuticals, to food technology, Islamic financial services, and Muslim-friendly tourism. This broad scope positions MIHAS as more than just a halal food exhibition; it represents the halal economy as a whole ecosystem.

What’s New at MIHAS 2026

Several things set this year’s edition apart:

  • AI-powered business matching — MIHAS 2026 introduces Agentic AI capabilities that help match buyers and exhibitors based on product categories and business needs, alongside real-time venue navigation and eight-language support for international delegates.
  • WiEX (Women in Export) — a new platform dedicated to boosting women-led business participation in the global halal economy, featuring a dedicated pavilion with 80 booths — 60 for Malaysian companies and the rest for international exhibitors.
  • MIHAS Knowledge Hub goes year-round — what used to run only during the four-day exhibition has expanded into a continuous, year-long programme, including webinars, Pocket Talk sessions, and a new podcast format.
  • MIHAS Awards — 15 awards will be presented across three flagship categories, with winners announced on 26 September 2026.

Scale and Targets for MIHAS 2026

To put the event’s scale in perspective, MATRADE is targeting more than 500 international buyers from 55 economies through its International Sourcing Programme (INSP), with total trade value for MIHAS 2026 projected at RM4.5 billion.

Since its inception in 2004, INSP MIHAS has generated over RM20.62 billion in export sales for Malaysian businesses.

Why MIHAS Matters for Muslim Travelers

Beyond its B2B focus, the presence of Muslim-friendly tourism and modest fashion sectors makes MIHAS relevant for Moslem Journey readers interested in the broader halal industry — from new products entering the market, to emerging brands, to global Muslim lifestyle trends.
