Ragam Suku Muslim di China
1.Suku Hui
Suku Hui merupakan suku muslim pertama terbesar di China, jumlah penduduknya sekitar 10 juta atau 45 persen dari penduduk muslim di China. Mereka tinggal di daerah Ningxia, Gansu, Shaanxi, dan Xianjiang. Cara mereka berpakaian, laki-laki menggunakan kopiah putih sedangkan perempuan berkerudung. Mereka membuka usaha makanan warung, karena bahan pokok makanan yang dihasilkan didapat dari ladang mereka masing-masing. Mayoritas mata pencaharian mereka adalah petani.
2. Suku Uyghur
Suku Uyghur merupakan suku terbesar ke dua di China. Mereka tinggal di daerah otonomi di Xinjiang yang letaknya di ujung barat Laut China. Suku ini terkenal dengan olahan emas, batu, sitera dan barang-barang kulit.
3. Suku Kazakh
Suku ini merupakan suku Turki bagian Asia Tengah yang tidak begitu mahir berbahasa Mandarin. Dahulu mereka hidup secara nomaden dan mulai menetap pada tahun 1949. Mata pencaharian mereka bertani, berdagang dan berternak. Populasi Muslim Kazakh sekitar 1,5 juta jiwa.
4. Suku Dongxiang
Tinggal di wilayah provinsi Gansu, Daerah otonomi Xinjiang Uyghur, Provinsi Qinhai dan daerang otonomi Ningxia Hui. Termasuk ke dalam suku minoritas, karena jumlah penduduknya hanya sekitar 500 an ribu. Berbeda dengan suku Kazakh, sebagian besar penduduknya bisa berbicara bahasa Mandarin dan selebihnya menggunakan bahasa Mongolia. Mereka masih memiliki hubungan darah dengan Mongolia. Tak heran, bahasa Dongxiang mirip dengan Mongolia. Mata pencaharian mereka bertani, seperti menanam kacang-kacangan, kentang, jagung dan sebagainya.
5. Suku Kyrgyz
Suku yang berasal dari Turki ini lebih kecil dibanding Dongxiang. Jumlah penduduknya hanya terdapat 150 ribu jiwa. Mereka tinggal di daerah otonomi Uyghur Xianjiang.
6. Suku Salar
Tinggal di Qinghai, Gansu, dan provinsi Xinjiang. Mereka dapat berbicara bahasa mandarin dan Tibet serta dapat menggunakan aksara China. Wanita suku Salar gemar memakai kerudung hitam sebagai penutup kepala sama halnya dengan suku Hui.
